We will meet in Stepantsminda, check into a mini hotel and get to know each other at dinner. In the evening we’ll go for a short walk, enjoy the view of majestic Kazbek in the warm light of setting sun.
In the morning we’ll go for a small mountain hike. We’ll go up to the Tsminda Sameba Church, which rises above the village and looks great against the backdrop of foggy Kazbek. Then we will go south along the Georgian Military Road towards Mtskheta. On the way we’ll stop at two observation points: on the famous Cross Pass and at the Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument. By lunchtime, we’ll arrive at Pasanauri — the birthplace of khinkali, and go to a restaurant to taste this masterpiece of Georgian cuisine.
We will continue our way along the green hills and tiny settlements scattered between them, until we reach Zhinvali reservoir. The milky turquoise color of the water is absolutely fantastic. Here we’ll visit the Ananuri fortress of the 17th century, which stands on the shore of the reservoir.
In the evening we’ll arrive in Mtskheta, where we’ll check into a hotel and have a rest.
In the morning we’ll walk around Mtskheta and visit two medieval cathedrals — Svetitskhoveli and Samtavro. On this guided tour we’ll learn how Christianity appeared and developed in Georgia. Then by car, we’ll go up to the Jvari Monastery, from where you can take a look at Mtskheta from above, and see the confluence of two rivers of different colors — an amazing sight!
In the afternoon we’ll reach Tbilisi, check into a hotel and go for a walk around the city. We’ll wander through the historical quarters, see the luxurious Presidential Palace, the Bridge of Peace and admire the harmonious combination of lovely old Georgian courtyards and modern fashionable buildings.
On the cable car we will go up to the Narikala fortress — the best observation point of the city. Evening Tbilisi in colorful lights is especially beautiful. After the walk, you can visit the sulfur baths that the city is famous for (not included).

Today we’ll get to know Tbilisi better. Let’s start the day with a visit to the Chugureti quarter and the flea market on the Dry Bridge. We’ll walk along Rustaveli Avenue — the heart of the city with numerous theaters, shops, and exquisite architecture. And then we’ll take a funicular ride to the top of Mount Mtatsminda, a cult place where the St. David’s Church and the Pantheon with the famous writers’ and scholars’ burials are located.
In the Sololaki area, we will see the luxurious mansions of celebrities of the 19th and 20th centuries. In the evening we will have dinner in the Old City, and then go to the wine cellar for a tasting of Georgian wines.
Early in the morning we’ll take a train to Megrelia — the historical region of Western Georgia. We will get off in Zugdidi where we’ll get a minibus to make it to Svaneti, the highest inhabited area in the Caucasus. On the way we’ll stop to see the Enguri hydroelectric dam, which is the biggest hydroelectric power station in the Caucasus mountains.
On the way to Mestia — the capital of Svaneti — we will enjoy breathtaking views of mountain rivers, waterfalls, snowy peaks and flowering valleys. Upon arrival, we will check into a mini hotel and go for a walk along the cozy evening streets. Let’s try to count all the Svan towers — there are several dozens of them here, and we will even climb one.
Today, we will explore the breathtaking landscapes of Svaneti, best experienced through nature walks. In the morning, we will set off on a two-hour trek through the picturesque Chalaadi Gorge. The trail will lead us to the tongue of a glacier descending from the majestic slopes of the Greater Caucasus Range.
Next, we’ll travel by minibus to the Kheshkili viewpoint. Here, swings are installed, offering a stunning panorama: below us lie deep valleys covered with dense forests, while on the horizon rises the mighty Svaneti Range.
We will descend back to Mestia on foot. The route is simple and very picturesque — each turn reveals hundreds of toylike houses and towers lying below.
In the evening, we will visit the ethnographic museum, located inside an old Svan house. The furnishing of the house has been preserved in its original form — as if we traveled to several centuries ago. On the excursion we’ll learn more about the history and culture of the Svan people.
Today we’ll get into an off-road vehicle and go to one of the highest mountain villages of the Caucasus — Ushguli. The road will not be easy, but at the end of the way we’ll be rewarded by a stunning view of ancient buildings and towers against the background of the highest peak of Georgia — Shkhara. We’ll take a walking tour around the village, shoot multiple pictures, and then return to Mestia.
After lunch we’ll go to the Svaneti Museum, where ancient books, weapons, and Svan household items are presented. We will also visit the ethnographic museum, located inside an old Svan house. The furnishing of the house has been preserved in its original form — as if we traveled to several centuries ago. On the excursion we’ll learn more about the history and culture of the Svan people.
In the evening we’ll go for a walk along the streets shrouded in twilight.
In the morning we’ll say goodbye to the hospitable Svaneti and return by minibus to Zugdidi, where we’ll have a sightseeing tour. We’ll be sure to see the symbol of the city — Dadiani Palace, surrounded by the well-kept garden with flower beds and luxurious fountains. For lunch we will go to the best restaurant in the city to try local Megrelian cuisine (for an extra charge).
After lunch, if the weather is nice, we can go to Anaklia, the resort town on the coast of the Black Sea (not included in the price).
In the evening we’ll take a transfer to Kutaisi, where we’ll check into a hotel and have a rest.
Prometheus Cave is the largest and most famous cave in Georgia. The length of its halls is about 11 km. There are underground rivers and lakes... But only a part of the cave is available for excursions. We’ll see many stalactites of various shapes in multi-colored lighting. Soft classical music creates a special mood. And the most interesting experience here is a boat ride along the underground river!
After lunch, we will go on an excursion to Gelati — medieval (12th century) monastic complex, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The walls of the temples are decorated with ancient mosaics and frescoes. One of the most famous Georgian kings, David the Builder, is buried here. The monastery is located on a hill, which offers beautiful views of Kutaisi and distant mountains.
In the evening we’ll take a walking tour around Kutaisi, which is one of the most ancient cities in Georgia. It is even older than Rome and Athens! We will go up to the Bagrati Cathedral, see the golden Colchis fountain, bridges over the Rioni river and much more. And of course, a tasty dinner in a local restaurant is a must.
In the morning we will return to Tbilisi by train. We’ll get to the city around 13:00. In case you have extra time before the flight, you can visit souvenir or grocery shops to buy gifts for your loved ones. Then you can take a taxi to get to the airport (the transfer is not included in the price).

I loved the itinerary. It included trekking, history, city tours, and a gastronomic experience – an absolutely perfectly planned program. The selection of dining spots was excellent, ranging from home-cooked meals to restaurant service. The accommodations were also noteworthy, well-suited to their locations – central in the cities and equally great in other spots.
We were lucky to have the cheerful, kind, and positive Galina with us. During the trip, she turned our diverse group into a true team. Thanks to her, the tour was full of life and interest. She gifted us with beautiful songs she performed herself, helped us push our limits during the trekking, and was always there to assist. Thank you, Strannik, for having such strong, team-oriented guides.
Thanks to the entire Strannik team for helping us re-examine the world around us and for promoting both physical and psychological well-being.
