We will encounter wild landscapes, the harsh beauty of the fjords, and three islands. One of them is completely uninhabited, but it is there that we will witness a massive colony of seabirds—puffins and guillemots—that arrive here for the summer. On another island, we will cross the Arctic Circle and receive a certificate!

We will also visit two country’s capitals: Reykjavik—a dynamic city with unique architecture, and Akureyri, a cozy northern port nestled among the mountains. Additionally, we will stop in small coastal settlements where we can walk among rugged cliffs, lava fields, and breathtaking waterfalls. If the weather is on our side, we will see how the sunlight transforms the cascading water into shimmering rainbows.

Our home for these eight days will be a comfortable yacht with spacious cabins. In the evenings, we can relax in the pool, visit the spa, watch a movie, or enjoy the tranquility of the northern ocean.

What awaits us on this journey:

  • Exploring Reykjavik, strolling through its picturesque streets, and immersing ourselves in the local culture.
  • Passing by a protected nature reserve—an island where landing is prohibited, but we can observe it from the water.
  • Crossing the Arctic Circle and receiving a certificate to mark the occasion.
  • Discovering a world of volcanoes, lava fields, and fascinating basalt rock formations.
  • Admiring Godafoss, also known as the “Waterfall of the Gods.”
  • Visiting Akureyri—a city with a unique atmosphere and stunning views of mountains and the bay.
  • Relaxing in the famous Blue Lagoon, where milky-blue waters are surrounded by black volcanic rocks.

Luxury Mega-Yachts "Le Bellot" and "Le Champlain"

This cruise takes place aboard elegant, premium-class yachts featuring stylish interiors and panoramic windows. Each vessel has 92 comfortable cabins of various categories, with a private terrace or balcony.

A unique feature of the lower deck is the lounge area with the innovative "Blue Eye" system—large portholes designed to resemble the eyes of marine mammals, combined with built-in hydrophones that capture and broadcast underwater sounds in real time. This allows guests to observe ocean life without leaving the ship. For island landings, motorized Zodiac boats are available.

Onboard, every detail is designed for comfort and relaxation:

  • Two restaurants offering signature cuisine;
  • A cozy spa area;
  • A conference hall for meetings and events;
  • A pool with a relaxation zone;

Free Time in Reykjavik Boarding the Yacht

In the evening, we will meet the yacht’s crew at the Reykjavik port (details can be found in the “Place & Time of the group meeting” section).

If you have free time before departure, we recommend exploring the capital of Iceland. A great starting point is the Perlan Museum, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. Then, you can take a walk through the historic center and see the Parliament building. Among the must-visit places is Hallgrímskirkja Church, known for its height and unique architecture. Continue your walk along Skolavordustigur and Laugavegur streets, famous for their colorful houses, cafés, shops, and souvenir stores.

After boarding the yacht, our journey begins: we leave the port and head toward Iceland’s western coast.

The Islands of Surtsey and Heimaey Volcanoes and Bird Colonies

Today, we set course for the Westman archipelago, where we will visit two islands.

The first is Surtsey. This place is unique—it appeared on the map just 60 years ago as a result of a powerful volcanic eruption. To preserve its pristine ecosystem, landing on the island is prohibited. However, we will admire its rugged landscapes from aboard our vessel.

Next, we will visit Heimaey, home to both people and thousands of Atlantic puffins that come here for the summer. We will have the opportunity to observe their daily life. Keep in mind that the winds at Cape Stórhöfði can be strong, so dressing warmly is recommended.

You can choose between two excursion options:

  • Hike to the volcanoes. We will trek to Helgafell Volcano (5,000 years old) and then climb to the crater of Eldfell. We will also visit the “Pompeii of the North” museum to learn about the 1973 eruption.
  • Boat tour around the island. We will sail around the island, spotting colonies of guillemots, gannets, and puffins before exploring the mysterious Klettshellir Cave.

Grundarfjordur Underground Cave or Snaefellsnes Peninsula

Today, we arrive in the charming town of Grundarfjordur, surrounded by mountains and lush greenery. We will reach the shore via Zodiacs and explore the area by choosing one of two routes:

  • Coastal hike to an underground cave. We will walk along the glacier beach, pass ancient craters, and descend into Vatnshellir Cave, hidden deep underground.
  • Following Jules Verne’s footsteps. We will explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, see the volcanic cliffs of Londrangar, and visit an old fishing village before returning by sea.

Grimsey – An Island on the Arctic Circle

We will visit the tiny island of Grímsey, which lies directly on the Arctic Circle. It is the only place in Iceland where the midnight sun can be observed! By tradition, anyone crossing the Arctic Circle receives a commemorative certificate. Here, we will soak in the mesmerizing landscapes and spot numerous seabird colonies, including puffins.
