We’ll meet at Casablanca's train station, Casa Voyage. At the beginning of the trip, we'll see the Hassan II Mosque. One of the largest mosques in the world is magnificent both inside and outside! We'll admire its exterior. Visit inside is only possible during specific hours (for an additional fee).
Next, we’ll travel to Rabat, the first imperial city on our route. After check-in at the hotel – dinner, and group introductions.
Rabat is the official capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. Before lunch, we'll visit its main attractions:
Afterwards, we'll head to Asilah. On the way, we'll admire the old city of Larache, which combines Moroccan and Andalusian architectural styles.
By the evening, we'll arrive at our destination. Asilah's origins date back to ancient times – it was initially a Phoenician colony and later became the Carthaginian city of Zilis during the height of the Roman Empire. In the 15th century, it transformed into a thriving trading center when the Portuguese built a large fortress here. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner.
Let’s take a stroll through the ancient city of Asilah. We'll visit the Portuguese fortress of El Kamra and walk along the white-and-blue historic Medina through its main gates; admire the Rasuli Palace, built in the Moorish style; and, finally, see the bastions with cannons from the dam.
Afterwards, we’ll have a transfer to the Mediterranean coast. Our next object of interest is city of Tangier, located on the coast of the Strait of Gibraltar (~50 km on the road). Check-in at the hotel, city walks, dinner.
Tangier is a significant place where seas, continents, cultures, and civilizations converge. We'll find breathtaking and mysterious location here — the Cape Spartel, where the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. If the weather is good enough, we might even catch a glimpse of the distant shores of Spain.
Near the cape, there is a 19th century lighthouse and a restaurant where we can have a bite of lunch, enjoy tea, and relax. Our guide will share the story of how the island of Spartel, once located near the cape, sank 12 thousand years ago. There is a theory that this might be Atlantis...
Next, we'll visit the famous Pillars of Hercules. These two tall rocks stand on either side of the Strait of Gibraltar. Throughout history, they served as a landmark for sailors, and in Greek mythology, it is believed that Hercules himself created them to mark the edge of the Earth. Nowadays, these natural monuments are divided between two countries — the United Kingdom owns one rock, while the other belongs to Morocco.
Afterwards, we'll travel to the city of Tetouan (~75 km, about 1 hour and 40 minutes on the road). Check-in at a cozy hotel.
After such a busy period filled with events and impressions, we have a relax day. We'll take a stroll through the central part of Tetouan, visit its kasbahs (fortresses), and explore the UNESCO-protected medina.
Then, we’ll reach the city of Martil, and the white sands of Cabo Negro beach where we can take a dip in the Mediterranean Sea.
Relax and enjoy! We'll definitely savor the local cuisine during lunch, and as the evening approaches, we'll head to one of Morocco's most famous cities — Chefchaouen (~80 km, about 2 hours on winding roads). It is also among the most vibrant and unique cities on the planet. The color of the blue houses and walls will amaze you! It's the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle, recharge, and find harmony.
In the morning, we'll leisurely explore the city of Chefchaouen, admire its walls, beautiful buildings, and squares. The next object of the visit is Akchour Valley (30 km on the road).
Picturesque cascade of waterfalls and baths surrounded by mountains offers breathtaking views! You can take a refreshing dip in the pristine mountain water pools. Nearby, there are rest areas where you can relax, have tea, and enjoy lunch — a traditional Moroccan dish called tajine with meat and vegetables will be prepared for you.
By evening, we'll return to Chefchaouen and stay in the same hotel.
We continue our journey through Morocco! The next point of the program is the ancient city of Fes. Along the way, we'll visit Volubilis, the once westernmost point of the Roman Empire. We'll see the ruins and listen to an interesting narrative from our local guide about the history of these places.
Then we'll reach the city of Meknes, one of the four imperial cities of Morocco. We'll explore the central part of this ancient city and continue the final part of our journey to Fes. Upon arrival, we'll check into a hotel and have dinner.
Fes is an imperial city of Morocco, the capital of the Idrisid, Marinid, and Wattasid dynasties. We have an exciting sightseeing tour awaiting us in this fascinating city, guided by an experienced local tour guide.
The late 8th century Medina of Fes is a labyrinth of narrow streets, shops, and squares. It is a UNESCO-protected site, just like the oldest university, the Al-Qarawiyyin complex, which we'll also visit. Guinness World Records recognizes it as the oldest continually operating higher education institution in the world.
Exploring Fes will take the entire day. By evening, we'll return to the hotel, have dinner, and relax.
Our oriental journey has come to an end.
