We have organized a unique journey through Patagonia – a region that encompasses two countries, Argentina and Chile. During this trip, we will have the opportunity to visit the national parks, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. We will be able to enjoy the view of the famous "towers", stunning nature, and, of course, the majestic glaciers.

Our journey is unique as it allows us to explore both the Argentine and Chilean sides of Patagonia. The main focus is on trekking: we don't just travel between national parks, but follow their best hiking trails. We stay only in cozy apartments. The program includes visits to the most authentic restaurants and cafes where we can try a variety of local dishes. Throughout the journey, the group will be accompanied by an experienced Russian-speaking guide from our Club.

In Argentina we will:

  • See the majestic Perito Moreno, a dazzling giant glacier in the province of Santa Cruz.
  • Go on a picturesque hike, enjoying the views of Mount Fitz Roy.
  • Climb Cerro Torre, the peak with a glacial lake, the beauty of which takes the breath away.
  • Spend the night at an estancia — an Argentine gaucho ranch;.
  • Wander through the historic streets of Buenos Aires.

In Chile we will:

  • Visit the Torres del Paine National Park, full of waterfalls, volcanic lakes, and glaciers.
  • Reach the Islands of Tierra del Fuego, and the southernmost city on Earth – Ushuaia.
  • On a catamaran, explore the Beagle Channel and greet the sea lions.
  • Hike picturesque trails and go rafting in Tierra del Fuego National Park, followed by a traditional lunch on the bank of a mountain river.
  • Stroll through the streets of Punta Arenas and relax on the ocean coast.
  • Taste the local cuisine.

Flight to El Calafate walks around the ranch

In the morning, we will take an internal flight to the small town of El Calafate. This town has become a popular tourist destination in Argentina due to its proximity to the Los Glaciares National Park, with its numerous glaciers.

We'll check into a picturesque gaucho ranch, known locally as an estancia, to fully immerse ourselves in the local way of life. Then we'll stroll through the surrounding area, birdwatch, and finally, meet Patagonia.

Los Glaciares Perito Moreno Glacier El Chaltén

Today we will head to one of the most famous glaciers — Perito Moreno, which is almost 30,000 years old. This unique natural site is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Scientists note that in the era of global warming, it alone resists climate change and does not shrink in volume.

We will reach the glacier by high-speed boat, and those who wish can disembark right onto its surface and take a walk. For convenience, eco-trails have been organized here. The guide will show the most optimal route so that we can enjoy the view of the ice giant from all sides. If we are lucky, we will be able to see the moment when part of an ice block falls into the water.

In the evening we will move on to El Chaltén, where new adventures await us.

Ascending Mount Fitz Roy

Today promises to be a day of active hiking. The route will take us along the picturesque trail of Laguna de los Tres, offering stunning views of valleys, cliffs, rivers, and lakes. We will stop at several observation points to admire the surrounding nature. During the hike, we will have the opportunity to swim in Lake Capri, known for its unique turquoise hue.

We will also see the most iconic landmark of the region – Mount Fitz Roy. Even though it’s not the highest mountain (3,405 meters), ascending it is considered one of the most dangerous on the planet. The reason for this is the unstable climate: strong winds and precipitation can make climbers wait for good weather for a long time.

The hiking routes cover approximately 22 kilometers with an elevation gain of 800 meters. However, for those who prefer a less intense journey, there is a lighter route with an elevation gain of 400 meters.

Trek to the top of Cerro Torre

Today, we will get off on a relatively easy trek to the top of Cerro Torre. This peak remained unreachable to climbers for many years, and its formidable appearance earned it the nickname "needle". There is even a film called "Scream of Stone" about the difficulties of climbing this remarkable peak.

At the bottom of Cerro Torre, we will see a unique glacial lake adorned with ice formations of various shapes and sizes, creating a breathtaking landscape.

Transfer to Chile

Today, we have a trip to the shores of the Pacific Ocean as our journey leads us to Chile! After morning preparations and breakfast, we will head towards the city of Puerto Natales, situated by the picturesque bay of Last Hope Sound. During the journey, we will witness the Argentine steppes gradually giving way to the emerald landscapes of Chile. These natural transformations will unfold right before our eyes.

Upon arrival, we will have free time for walks and relaxation, as well as dinner at a restaurant serving local cuisine.

Scenic walk in Torres del Paine National Park

Over the next two days, we will immerse ourselves in exploring Torres del Paine, one of the most breathtaking nature reserves on the planet. Today will be an easy day, with picturesque walks to the park's key attractions. We will enjoy mesmerizing views of mountain peaks, rivers, and lakes, heavenly shades of glaciers, and endless valleys with guanaco pastures.

Among the places we will visit are the Salto Grande waterfall, the volcanic Lake Amarga, and the glacial Lake Pehoe. Additionally, we will witness another amazing sight — a natural air tunnel created by air currents on the shores of Lake Grey. As a pleasant bonus, we'll explore a cave that around 10,000 years ago was home to giant ground sloths known as mylodons.

Trekking in Torres del Paine National Park

Today, we will go on a scenic trek covering approximately 20-23 kilometers with an elevation gain of about 750 meters. The route features unusual terrain, with most of the path consisting of large stone steps. The final destination of the route will be the Three Towers and the lake — the main attractions after which the park was named.

For travelers who prefer less challenging routes, there is an alternative option without the ascent to the towers. On this path, the elevation gain will be around 375 meters.

For the night, we will return to Puerto Natales.

Punta Arenas and relaxation by the ocean

In the morning, we will pack our belongings and set off, driving through Chilean landscapes to reach the city of Punta Arenas, the capital of Chilean Patagonia and Antarctica. Upon arrival, we will explore the city and have lunch at a restaurant serving ocean cuisine. During our stroll, we'll observe the city's life, see the monument to Ferdinand Magellan, and recall the history of these places. And, of course, we'll visit the beach of the Pacific Ocean, which is a perfect place to let go of all worries and simply enjoy the view of the waves and the sounds of nature.

Transfer to Ushuaia

In the morning, we will board a bus to the southernmost city on Earth — Ushuaia. To reach it, we will take a ferry across the Strait of Magellan. This will let us reflect on the history of this place. We can imagine the courage of the sailors who explored these waters in the 16th century.

Finally, we will arrive at the Land of Fire, also known as Tierra del Fuego. Driving across the largest island of the archipelago from north to south, we will see Ushuaia in the distance – the dream of many travelers around the world. And we will be among the lucky ones whose dream has come true.

Upon arrival, we will stay at a hotel with magnificent mountain views. We'll end the day with dinner and well-deserved rest.

Catamaran tour around the Beagle Channel exploring Ushuaia

We'll start the day with a sea excursion on a catamaran through the Beagle Channel. Almost two centuries ago, this area was explored by Charles Darwin as part of a British expedition. Our journey, however, will be more comfortable and enjoyable: we’ll take in the views of the coasts of Chile and Argentina, see sea lions and cormorants, the working Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse, and numerous uninhabited islands.

After lunch, we’ll have the chance to explore the streets of Ushuaia, buy souvenirs, or visit the local museum housed in the former prison building that was the center of the city just a hundred years ago. Those who wish can also take a helicopter tour, during which breathtaking views of Tierra del Fuego will open up from above!

Trekking in Tierra del Fuego National Park rafting

Tierra del Fuego National Park, located at the southernmost tip of the Earth, is the pride of this unique natural territory. About a century ago, prisoners worked here harvesting timber, but since the middle of the twentieth century these lands have been officially protected, attracting tourists with their unique subantarctic beauty.

As part of our journey, we will hike about eight kilometers along trails through the protected area and raft down the river. At the end of a full day, a farewell dinner awaits us in one of the best restaurants in Ushuaia.

Returning to Buenos Aires flight home

In the morning we will return to Buenos Aires, and afterwards — the flight home.

For those who wish to stay in the city for one more day, we recommend going for a walk to get acquainted with its rich history, culture, and traditions. Here you can see a variety of architectural styles that reflect the history and development of the city. On the city streets you will encounter street artists and dancers who will add color to your journey. And in the evening, drop by the cozy colonial-style neighborhood of San Telmo, where you can attend an Argentine tango show. This dance is a true art and the soul of Argentina. Now you have the opportunity to experience it for yourself!

Tickets for domestic flights on the following routes are purchased separately: Buenos Aires – El Calafate, Ushuaia – Buenos Aires. Weather:

From December to March in Patagonia, it is summer. However, temperatures vary significantly between the cities and the mountains. In Buenos Aires, it is very warm, with daytime temperatures ranging from +25°C to +29°C.

In the mountains, temperatures are much lower (can drop to around +5°C), and most importantly, it can be very windy with possible precipitation.

Requirements for tourists:

The itinerary is suitable for anyone with average physical training and trekking experience.

Participants should be in good physical condition, capable of enduring long car journeys, hiking, including mountain trails ranging from 5 to 15 km per day. For those interested, we can intensify the route in mountainous areas through national parks.

Children are allowed to participate from the age of 14 and only if accompanied by their parents.

Visa & currency:

Currency:

The official currency is the Argentine peso. It’s better to bring money in dollars or euros — we’ll exchange them for pesos on the spot. We recommend bringing dollars no older than 2008, as older-design banknotes are exchanged at a less favorable rate, and damaged notes may be refused altogether. Withdrawing cash in local currency from foreign bank cards usually comes with an unfavorable exchange rate. Your guide will advise you on the most advantageous way to exchange cash dollars and euros.

Other documents:

It is necessary to have a return ticket with you in electronic or printed form.

Required personal equipment:

The checklist #52 will help you prepare for this trip.

Travel features:

Insurance:

For entry into the country you will need medical insurance covering trekking at altitudes up to 3,000 m. A separate policy is required for each country (Chile and Argentina).

Meals:

The tour price includes all hotel breakfasts, 3 lunch-box lunches on trekking days (days 4, 5 and 8), and 2 lunches (on days 7 and 12). All other meals are paid for separately.

Since this is a group tour, the food is the same for all participants. Unfortunately, we cannot prepare an individual meal for you.

If you have an intolerance or allergy to any of the products, please notify the manager in advance. We will pass this information on to the guide or accommodations. However, we kindly ask you to follow up on this matter during the trip. If you have strict dietary restrictions, we recommend bringing suitable food with you or buy it on the spot.

In case of poor weather conditions (severe wind, rain, etc.) or other unforeseen circumstances the itinerary may be changed.
