We will meet at the airport (see the details in the "Place and time of the meeting" section) and then go to our hotel in Fethiye. We can stop for lunch on the way, if needed. After checking into the hotel and some rest, we will gather for dinner in a cafe to get to know each other and discuss future plans. In the evening we can go for a walk to the old part of the city, admire the sea views on the embankment or look into souvenir shops.
After breakfast with a sea view, we’ll go for a walk to adapt to the climate and long walks. We will visit the most important sight of the city — the Lycian tombs, which were hand carved into the rock without any construction equipment. The first burials appeared here in the 4th century BC. Because of such difficult building process, only the most eminent people were buried here. The uppermost tomb belongs to one of the kings of Fethiye — Amyntas.
Then we will take a dolmuş — a Turkish minibus — and go to the ghost village of Kayaköy. There are several thousand houses in the village, but all of them have been empty for almost 100 years, and it makes an eerie impression. Kayaköy was inhabited by ethnic Greeks, but after the Greco-Turkish War they were forced to return to their homeland, so the city became abandoned. We will walk along the rocky streets and see empty houses, churches, schools, shops.
Then we will head off to the village of Ölüdeniz located on the coast of a turquoise bay. We will check into a mini hotel and go swimming.
We will spend the day in Ölüdeniz, which offers a wide range of activities — from paragliding and yacht trips to relaxation in Turkish baths or on the beach. Choose anything that matches your taste!
In the morning those who wish can take a quick dip into the sea, and we’ll start our hike along the famous Lycian Way.
During the walk we’ll see the rugged slopes of Babadağ mountain, which is popular among paragliders, and vast expanses of the sea on the other side. The trail will lead us to the Butterfly Valley — a canyon that is especially picturesque during spring blossom. The beach at the end of the canyon can only be reached by water. If you wish, you can rent a boat and come back here on one of the following days.
In the evening we will check into a mountain motel above the canyon.
Today we’ll continue our way along the trail leading now close to the seashore. One of the most impressive places on the trail is the beach in Akburun village with clear water and massive flat stones, which are very convenient for relaxing and swimming.
After lunch, we’ll walk further along the coast and get to the beach with the unusual name Kabak that means “pumpkin” in Turkish. It’s a beautiful bay surrounded by mountains, where we’ll check into a bungalow and have dinner in a cafe.
In the morning we’ll take a dip into the sea and go up the mountain path. Through the coniferous forest, winding between the rocks, the trail will take us to the very top. Prepare to be completely and utterly amazed from what you’ll see. We’ll watch the Mediterranean Sea sparkling in the sun, take impressive photos on a cliff, have a snack with juices and oriental sweets, and then begin the descent. At the foot of the mountain, a transfer will be waiting for us to take us to the next point of our route — the city of Patara.
Patara is a unique combination of pristine nature and historical sights. In the morning we’ll visit the famous Patara Beach, one of the longest sandy beaches in Turkey. The loggerhead sea turtles go here to lay their eggs in the sand, so the beach is considered a protected area.
Then we will visit the ruins of the ancient capital of Lycia, see the building of parliament, theater, baths, necropolis, triumphal arch, all well preserved from the 8th century BC.
Then we will go down the Dizlikent canyon, take a walk among the steep rocks and huge stones covered with colorful moss. Then we will go down to the longest canyon in Turkey — Saklikent.
In the evening we will go to a cafe for a farewell dinner.
In the morning we’ll go back to Antalya. The transfer will take you to the airport. If you wish to continue your vacation, you can stay in Antalya.

For this trip to Turkey we chose autumn and spring seasons, when there is no exhausting summer heat that usually lasts here until the end of September. The typical weather at this time of the year is dry and warm. Rain is unlikely, but as in any mountain area, it can appear unpredictably, so a raincoat or waterproof jacket is essential. Average temperature during the day is +20...+25 °C. At night it can be chilly (+14 °C). In general, most of the time we wear T-shirts and shorts.
There is a high risk of sunburn, so it’s necessary to use high SPF sunscreen and wear a cap or a hat.
Water temperature is around +20 °C in spring and around +25 °C in autumn. In addition, autumn is the ripening season for pomegranates, figs, peaches, citrus fruits, and in spring we can enjoy mulberries, apricots, medlars, watermelons and melons.
