In the afternoon we’ll meet at the airport (see the details in the "Place and time of the meeting" section) and go to Cirali — a small village on the seashore, where we’ll check into a charming guesthouse, immersed in lush greenery. You’ll have time to rest, and in the evening we’ll gather in a cafe to get to know each other and find out the details of the upcoming trip.
In the morning we’ll take a walk to the ruins of the ancient city of Olympos that was founded presumably in the 3rd century BC. Here, the old walls of the fortress, the buildings of the bathhouse, the theater and others have been preserved to this day.
Then we’ll spend time on the beach swimming and sunbathing. We’ll have lunch right there, on the beach, after which you will be able to walk around Cirali on your own, visit local shops and enjoy fresh fruits.
After sunset, those who wish will join the guide for the walk to the famous lights of the Chimaera. In the dark they look the most impressive.
Today our hiking route starts. The first point of the hike is Mount Chimaera shrouded in mysterious legends. It is believed that a fire-breathing monster from Greek mythology lives in the depths of the rock, and that is why flames burst out from under the stones.
The path running through the fragrant coniferous forest will lead us to the village of Beycik. On the way, we’ll enjoy the impressive landscapes of the Olympos National Park. For lunch, we’ll visit a fish restaurant to taste the signature dish — freshly caught trout. Upon arrival in Beycik, we’ll check into a hotel and have a rest.
We continue trekking along the high mountain valley between rocks, tall pines, and Lebanese cedars. We’ll notice that it’s getting cooler, and deciduous trees are gradually replaced by coniferous forest and alpine meadows. Finally, the majestic Tahtali Mountain — the highest point of the Lycian way — will appear in front of us. The ancient Greeks called it Olympus and believed that the ancient gods lived on its top.
On the way, we’ll have a snack with traditional gözleme flatbread and refreshing ayran. In the evening we’ll reach the village of Yayla Kuzdere, where we’ll spend the night in a guest house surrounded by magnificent views.
Today we have a long way to go, but interesting stops await us on it. We’ll visit the ancient Gedelme Castle, which allegedly was built in the 9th century and was used as a fortress and a place to store grain. Not far from the castle there is another amazing attraction — a huge plane tree, which is already 2,500 years old.
A variety of landscapes on the road — from deserted rocky spaces to lush orchards — will not let us get bored.
We’ll spend the night in the village of Ovacik, in a mountain inn, where we’ll be served a delicious homemade dinner.
Today we’ll return to the sea, but the route will not be easy: we’ll have to drop about 1,000 meters, and also wade across a mountain river. This effort will be rewarded with fantastic views of the Göynük Canyon, which boasts an amazing combination of turquoise water, lush greenery and smooth white walls.
In the evening we’ll check into a hotel on the seashore in the resort area. "All inclusive" after a long walk — that is pure happiness!
Beldibi is a small resort village surrounded by pomegranate and orange gardens. It offers quiet and cozy atmosphere, beautiful natural scenery, and wide variety of outdoor activities. You can swim and sunbathe on the beach, rent a canoe, a jet ski, or go for a boat trip. And for those who are not afraid of cold water, there is canyoning! All activities are at additional cost.
In the morning we’ll go back to Antalya. The transfer will take you to the airport. If you wish to continue your vacation, you can stay in Antalya.
Special price is valid until 09.01.2025!
Our guide will meet you with a “Strannik” sign on the first day of the tour at 15:00 at the Antalya Airport (AYT). From the airport we’ll go straight to our guest house in Cirali.
Note: If you arrive at any other place, you will need to get to the airport by the designated time. We will not be able to pick you up from another hotel or stop along the way.
On the last day of the tour you’ll be transferred to Antalya Airport (AYT). You can choose any convenient flight departing after 13:00 or stay in Antalya and continue your vacation.
The meeting of the group will take place at Antalya Airport (AYT) at 15:00.
We recommend booking flights arriving in Antalya no later than 14:30.
On the last day of the tour you’ll be transferred to Antalya Airport (AYT). You can choose any convenient flight departing after 13:00 or stay in Antalya and continue your vacation.
Note: We kindly ask you not to purchase the tickets until the manager sends you a confirmation and guarantees that the tour will take place.
There are only a few transfers on the tour. We use comfortable minivans for the transfers from and to the airport.
Our personal belongings will be delivered to the hotels by car.
We’ll spend nights in the hotels, mini hotels and bungalows in double or triple rooms. Some of the hotels will be more comfortable, others — less, as our route will go through more and less popular places.
Note: The price of the trip is based on double accommodation. If you are traveling alone, we will try to find a roommate for you from the tourists of our group, but we cannot guarantee this. Usually there is a roommate, but if there is not, you will need to pay extra for single accommodation.
If you need a single room and don't want to stay with anybody, specify this in the comments to your application.
Single accommodation throughout the tour is available for extra €300.
You go trekking along a route with minimal infrastructure: there may be an old room stock, electricity from a generator and water outages. All this compensates for the all inclusive hotel on the first line in the last days of the tour. If the comfort of accommodation is important to you every day, then we recommend that you consider the tour «Western Lycian Trail without backpacks and tents».
Note: If you travel alone, we can book a single room or try to find a roommate for you. Ask the manager for the details.
For this trip to Turkey we chose autumn and spring seasons, when there is no exhausting summer heat that usually lasts here until the end of September. The typical weather at this time of the year is dry and warm. Rain is unlikely, but as in any mountain area, it can appear unpredictably, so a raincoat or waterproof jacket is essential. Average temperature during the day is +20...+25 °C. At night it can be chilly (+10 °C). In general, most of the time we wear T-shirts and shorts.
There is a high risk of sunburn, so it’s necessary to use high SPF sunscreen and wear a cap or a hat.
Water temperature is around +20 °C in spring and around +25 °C in autumn. In addition, autumn is the ripening season for pomegranates, figs, peaches, citrus fruits, and in spring we can enjoy mulberries, apricots, medlars, watermelons and melons.
The itinerary is suitable for anyone whose medical condition allows moderate physical activity. You have to be prepared for long hikes, steep ascents and descents. If you like long walks, this trip is what you need.
Children are allowed to participate from the age of 12 and only if accompanied by their parents. Participation of younger children requires special agreement.
Note: If you have certain health problems or medical contraindications, be sure to let the manager know. It is important for the guide to take this into account.
The checklist #61 will help you to prepare for this trip.
It is no longer required to present certificates of vaccination or testing for COVID-19 to enter Turkey.
The tour includes all breakfasts in the hotels (from the 2nd to the 8th days), one lunch on the 7th day, and 5 dinners (from the 3rd to the 7th days). For lunch we will stop by cafes or buy snacks in local shops along the way. For dinners on the 1st and 2nd days we will visit restaurants with local cuisine.
During the route, we will eat plenty of fresh fruits, seafood and traditional Turkish dishes.
Note: Since this is a group tour, the food is the same for all participants. Unfortunately, we cannot prepare an individual meal for you. If you have an intolerance or allergy to any of the products, please notify the manager in advance. We will pass this information on to the guide or accommodations. However, we kindly ask you to follow up on this matter during the trip. If you have strict dietary restrictions, we recommend bringing suitable food with you or buy it on the spot.
The Lycian Way is one of the top ten trails in the world, it combines mountain and sea landscapes, deep canyons and small private bays, ancient cities and orchards. We’ll explore the real, non-tourist Turkey, and most importantly — without tents or heavy backpacks.
This time we’ll go trekking along the eastern, the most picturesque part of the trail. We will start and finish the route on the sea coast, while the main part of the trip will be devoted to the mountain hikes and historical sights. We planned overnight stays in cozy hotels and guesthouses in order to be able to enjoy a soft bed, a hot shower and other benefits of civilization every day.
The main impressions of the route are:
